Basketball Stat Sheet

A basketball stat sheet is a one-page form for tracking each player’s game stats by jersey number: field goals, 3-pointers and free throws (made and attempted), rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers, fouls and points. This free PDF has a full one-team sheet and a two-team sheet with both rosters on one page.

How to use it

  1. Print one sheet per team (or the two-team page for one scorekeeper).
  2. Before tip-off, write each player’s jersey number and name in the first two columns.
  3. Use tally marks during the game. For shots, record made-attempted, for example 4-9.
  4. At the end, add up each row and total each column for team stats.
  5. Points = 2 × field goals made + 3-pointers made + free throws made (field goals already include 3-pointers, so each 3 adds one extra point).

Free to print and share. If you share it online, a link back to this page is appreciated.

Frequently asked questions

What stats should I track in youth basketball?
Start with points, rebounds, assists, steals and turnovers. Add shooting splits (made-attempted) and fouls once you have a dedicated scorekeeper. Tracking by jersey number is faster than by name.
How do you write shooting stats on a stat sheet?
Write made-attempted, for example 4-9 for 4 makes on 9 shots. Field goals (FGM-A) include 3-pointers; 3PM-A counts only the 3-point shots.
Who should keep stats during a game?
An assistant coach, a parent or a player on the bench. Numbers on the front and back of every jersey make it much easier to record the right player.
